How To: Configure SecureSphere Windows Database Agent

The SecureSphere Database Agent, installed on the database server, provides visibility into database activityby monitoring all database communications and forwarding these communications, via a TCP or UDP tunnel, to a listener application configured on a SecureSphere gateway.

Steps to Installing of Imperva SecureSphere Agent

Installing and configuring the DB Agent is a straightforward process, To install and configure the DB Agent (most typical scenarios):

  1. Obtain the latest version of the DB Agent for your platform from the Imperva FTP site: Make sure you download the correct agent installation file for your platform. Carefully review the Release Notes before continuing to the next step.
  2. Confirm that the host meets the prerequisite requirements: Run the pre-installation script, which verifies that the prerequisites are met.
  3. Check the database configuration: Confirm that the proper version of the database software (including patches) is installed and that communications are correctly configured.
  4. Configure the SecureSphere gateway: We configure the gateway so that it can communicate with the DB Agent.
  5. Install the DB Agent: Install the DB Agent on the database server to be monitored.
  6.  Configure the DB Agent before using it for the first time: Configure the DB Agent to monitor database activity and communicate with the gateway.

At the end of this process, local database activity will be fully visible to the SecureSphere user via the SecureSphere management GUI (Graphical User Interface).

After you have finished configuring the DB Agent using the First-Time Configuration Wizard, you can edit the DB Agent configuration and set up advanced options using the DB Agent Management Console.
